FLIRE foresees 2 actions aiming to monitor project’s impact on local society and on environmental problem targeted: More specifically:

Action C.1. Monitoring FLIRE’s impact on local society

Key objective of this action is the creation of a user group (FLIRE’s user group) with representatives from local stakeholders, where people from public administration, forest and fire management authorities, environmental organizations, and active citizens groups are invited to participate. More specifically this monitoring action foresees: » See how you can participate in FLIRE User Group
» See events that are organized

Action C.2. Monitoring FLIRE’s impact on floods and fires environmental problem

This action aims to the identification and further analysis of appropriate environmental indicators (with critical threshold values). These indicators quantify features of the environment that are of relevance with the balanced functioning of ecosystems, while being at the same time representative of other dependent features and sensitive to changes caused by the application of the proposed tools (Early Warning Systems and DSS) for Eastern Attica.
Further analysis of these environmental indicators allows the identification of current environmental conditions and relevant environmental trends.
These indicators are classified into 2 categories:
These indicators will be assessed for the study area during the implementation phase (3 years) and the After-LIFE phase (at least 5 years) and they will be updated when necessary. The monitoring of the second set of indicators makes sense only for the period after the completion of the Project. The indicators will be further processed in order to provide useful conclusion on the impact of the application of proposed tools on the floods and fire risk management.
Additionally a Good Ecological Status (GES) indicator of the main streams in the area, following the procedure adopted by the Special Secretariat for Water will also be calculated during the project, to assess the extent to which FLIRE resulted in tangible benefits to the WFD overarching goals and specific implementation in the region.
These indicators will be assessed for the study area during the implementation phase (3 years) and the After-LIFE phase (at least 5 years) and updated when necessary. The monitoring of the third set of indicators makes sense only for the period after the completion of the Project. The indicators will be further processed in order to provide useful conclusion on the impact of the application of proposed tools on the floods and fire risk management.
